Course Description

Every year approximately 5-million patients are admitted to ICU wards in India. In the last two decades, there has been a tremendous growth of critical care medicine in India. The country needs about 50,000 trained intensivists, but only about 8,500 are available. Freshly passed medical graduates do not have the essential skills required to handle duties in the critical care units. Giving additional skills to MBBS doctors through training and enabling them to deliver critical care to patients is essential to meet the acute shortage of skilled critical care professionals facing the healthcare industry.

The Advanced Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine (AFCCM) is a one-year intensive blended learning course that will provide medical graduates the comprehensive knowledge and skills required to manage critically ill patients. Students will learn theoretical aspects of critical care medicine online during the 12-months, while getting practically trained in critical care units of a leading tertiary care hospital under expert intensivists. You will be rotated in various critical care/high dependency units of the hospital and manage various kinds of critically ill patients. After passing all the online theory modules, there will be final clinical evaluation at the end of 12-months of training. Those who successfully pass this exam, will receive the Advanced Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine certificate from Medvarsity and Apollo Hospitals Educational & Research Foundation (AHERF).
