Course Description

Every year about 5 million patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICU) in India. The country needs 50,000 intensive care professionals who are trained in that specialized department to provide accurate therapy for the patients. A mechanical ventilator is the most often required equipment in the ICU and emergency department, which provides respiratory support to ill patients. Mobilization of critically ill patients on a mechanical ventilator is an advanced skilled process. It is especially important that every health care professional working for ICU have a grip on mechanical ventilators to follow the appropriate and safe practices. Comprehensive knowledge and skills in mechanical ventilation play a significant role in the clinical decision-making process and the therapy of ill patients.

The learning course in mechanical ventilation will introduce you to the different modes of ventilation. You will learn the key skills required for setting up a mechanical ventilator. This course will cover the physiology and operational aspects of a mechanical ventilator. You will understand the various complications associated with mechanical ventilation, and be able to determine the risks related to mechanical ventilation. In addition, you will learn advanced monitoring of lung function during mechanical ventilation for conditions such as ARDS, Obstructive lung disease and COVID 19. You will also gain an understanding of different methods of non-invasive ventilation, their applications, and their complications.

Hands-on workshop on Mechanical and Non-Invasive Ventilation:

Practice a complete hands-on training including a variety of case-based scenarios on procedures and treatment protocols of Mechanical and Non-Invasive Ventilation, Intubation, Percutaneous Tracheostomy, etc.
