The Fellowship in Transplant Anesthesia is a hospital-based, interventional program developed in collaboration with Apollo. It trains anesthesiologists in the perioperative management of complex organ transplant surgeries. The fellowship integrates clinical anesthesia, critical care, and transplant medicine, offering hands-on exposure to liver, kidney, and cardiac transplant procedures.
Through multidisciplinary clinical immersion with transplant surgeons and intensivists, fellows gain expertise in hemodynamic monitoring, organ perfusion techniques, and patient optimization. The program emphasizes procedural precision and clinical judgment, preparing graduates to manage high-risk anesthesia cases in advanced transplant centers.
Eligibility: MD/DNB Anesthesiology
Next Batch
Specialized Expertise in Transplant Anesthesia: Acquire in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in perioperative care for complex organ transplant procedures.
Clinical Mastery in Critical Management: Develop advanced skills in hemodynamic monitoring, ventilatory management, and intraoperative optimization for high-risk patients.
Confidence in Complex Anesthetic Scenarios: Gain practical exposure to managing anesthesia challenges unique to liver, kidney, and cardiac transplant surgeries.
Ethical & Pharmacologic Insight: Strengthen your understanding of ethical decision-making, pharmacologic principles, and postoperative care essential to transplant medicine.
This fellowship focuses on the anesthetic and perioperative care of patients undergoing organ transplantation. Participants learn to handle the physiological complexities and ethical considerations involved in transplant procedures. The curriculum includes modules on donor and recipient selection, organ preservation, and intraoperative monitoring.
Fellows gain real-time experience assisting in liver, kidney, heart, and lung transplants. They are trained in advanced airway management, vascular access, and invasive monitoring. Simulation-based sessions reinforce emergency management during transplant surgeries.
The program provides exposure to both pediatric and adult transplant anesthesia. Fellows collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including transplant surgeons, perfusionists, and intensivists. Case-based learning enhances clinical decision-making under critical conditions.
The academic curriculum explores pharmacologic considerations in organ failure and post-transplant care. Fellows learn about immunosuppressive drug interactions and anesthetic implications.
A dedicated research module promotes evidence-based approaches and encourages contributions to transplant anesthesia literature. The program ensures that participants understand hemodynamic goals, transfusion strategies, and ventilation techniques tailored to organ-specific transplants.
On completion, fellows will be competent in managing preoperative evaluation, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative ICU care. They will also develop leadership and crisis management skills essential for critical care teams.
This fellowship builds professionals who are capable of managing high-stakes surgeries with precision and compassion.
