Course Description

Clinical nutrition is the field of science that deals with the nutritional aspects of diseases and clinical disorders.  This discipline focuses on dietary management of individual patients or groups of patients with established disease, in contrast to public health nutrition, which deals with health promotion and disease prevention in the general population. There is a growing demand for qualified clinical nutritionists who can provide evidence-based nutritional interventions for various diseases.

The PG Diploma in Clinical Nutrition course will provide the student with a detailed scientific understanding of how nutrition can be used in the management of various diseases. Students will learn the role of diet in the causation, progression, and treatment of different disease conditions. They will also learn how to evaluate nutritional needs in various medical conditions and recommend dietary therapy based on established guidelines and treatment protocols. This is a comprehensive program mapped to globally accepted proficiency levels. The program is divided into eight courses that cover the theoretical and practical aspects of the key concepts and project work.

Apart from online reading content, there are Live Virtual classes (webinars) by expert faculty throughout the course to complement the curriculum. The course is equipped with videos, case scenarios and assessments for better understanding. This course constitutes a 45 days of intensive practical training work where the students will be trained in a tertiary care hospital. The students are required to provide a report on the chosen topic on clinical nutrition at the end comprising of 8000-10,000 words. On successful completion of the course the student will be awarded with PG Diploma in Clinical Nutrition certificate from Amity University.

PRACTICAL TRAINING:

In the second semester, there will be 45-days of practical training on clinical nutrition will be provided to the enrolled students in a tertiary care hospital by the designated faculties. The students are required to submit a “Project report” on any topic of clinical nutrition constituting of 8000-10,000 words documented at the time of training. The project report should comprise Background, Review of Literature, Methodology, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.

Eligibility

  • Indian students: Must have completed Graduation in any stream.
  • For Students with Foreign Education (International Students): Graduation Degree with Minimum 40% or equivalent marks (3 years or 4 years degree program. Diploma will not be acceptable)
  • Preference will be given to bachelor’s or master’s degree in Life Sciences Streams or Graduates from Medical and Allied Medical Streams with recognized degrees and interested in taking up a career in clinical nutrition
  • Applicants must have proper understanding of English or must have completed at least three years of academic qualifications under English medium.
