Fellows systematically advance through increasing levels of autonomy while completing a significant volume of clinical experience, including extensive diagnostic ultrasounds and invasive fetal procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, and intrauterine transfusions.
The progression phases include:
Level 1 (Direct Supervision): Early orientation with hands-on technical guidance
Level 2 (Indirect Supervision): Semi-independent practice under careful oversight
Level 3 (Independent): Autonomous performance of procedures with full responsibility for outcomes
