Course Description

The Fellowship in Family Medicine course aims at developing competent family physicians who will understand the patient in the context of family as well as the community, who can provide continuous, coordinated, comprehensive, and cost-effective care. This course will enable students to develop their skills for recognizing the common medical conditions, making timely appropriate referrals, doing effective consultation, and counselling.

This course is for the doctors who are interested to pursue a career in family practice and is also relevant to doctors of all backgrounds and experience, right from early- career doctors to doctors established in other specialties. All MBBS graduates registered with a State Medical Council or the Medical Council of India are eligible to take this course.

Family Medicine is emerging as a viable career option for medical graduates in India. This course will prepare doctors to explore career opportunities in hospitals, clinics, home health organizations, and primary & community-based healthcare organizations.

This course is accredited by the Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI). It includes a 1-month contact program, during which the student will spend a few days each in all major departments in a hospital, dealing with actual patients. The contact program in available in major hospitals across India, and a major hospital in Bangladesh.

All successful students of FFM will be given lifetime membership of AFPI which will help them access the AFPI network and their knowledge base.

• Case-studies and MCQ based online module-wise assessments.

Certifications:

On successful completion of all online module-wise assessments and the final assessment, the student will be awarded the ‘Fellowship in Family Medicine’ certificate by Medvarsity, endorsed by the Academy of Family Physicians of India (AFPI).
