The Fellowship in Pediatric Intensive Care is a hospital-based, interventional program designed to develop advanced competencies in the management of critically ill children. Developed in collaboration with Apollo, fellows receive hands-on exposure in high-acuity PICU settings, focusing on pediatric emergencies, mechanical ventilation, sepsis, and multi-organ failure management.
The curriculum integrates pediatric physiology, pharmacology, ethics, and simulation-based training to enhance clinical decision-making and procedural readiness. Fellows work alongside interdisciplinary teams of intensivists, nurses, and pediatric subspecialists, gaining expertise in advanced monitoring, patient stabilization, and evidence-based critical care.
Eligibility: MD/DNB in Pediatrics, MD/DNB Anesthesiology
Next Batch
Advanced Pediatric Critical Care Expertise: Gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in managing pediatric emergencies and critically ill children across diverse ICU settings.
Clinical Proficiency in Life Support: Build strong skills in mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and multi-organ failure management under expert supervision.
Leadership in Pediatric ICU Teams: Develop the ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and family-centered critical care.
Ethical & Communication Competence: Strengthen your understanding of ethical decision-making, empathy, and communication practices essential in pediatric critical care environments.
This fellowship immerses learners in the complexities of pediatric critical care medicine. The curriculum includes modules on respiratory failure, circulatory shock, neurological emergencies, and sepsis management. Fellows gain deep understanding of pediatric physiology and pharmacology to support critical decision-making.
Training involves supervised rotations in intensive care units and exposure to advanced life-support systems. Participants learn to manage ventilators, monitor hemodynamics, and stabilize critically ill patients.
Case discussions reinforce diagnostic reasoning and treatment planning. The fellowship encourages evidence-based practice through exposure to global pediatric critical care guidelines.
Participants collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including pediatric cardiologists, neurologists, and anesthesiologists. Simulation labs provide practice in emergency resuscitation, code blue management, and procedural interventions.
The academic framework includes structured lectures, case conferences, and morbidity-mortality reviews. Fellows explore emerging research in pediatric sepsis and organ support technology.
Ethical aspects such as end-of-life care, family communication, and consent are integral components.
By completion, participants demonstrate proficiency in acute care management and teamwork under pressure. They are equipped to lead pediatric intensive care teams with clinical precision and compassion.
This fellowship builds clinicians who can navigate high-stress environments and optimize outcomes for the most vulnerable patients.
