Course Description
This introductory course has been designed by leading diabetologists to cover the clinical features, screening and diagnosis, and a basic introduction to the pharmacological agents used in the treatment of diabetes. The multiple case presentations, lectures, and interactive elements presented throughout the course aim to improve clinical outcomes by providing an overview of diabetes education, exercise, and pharmacological agents. This self-paced course allows you to upskill yourself while managing your clinical responsibilities. This course is an essential first step for achieving your Fellowship in Diabetes Mellitus.
The course has been updated according to the latest guidelines of the International Diabetes Federation.
The Medvarsity Learning Design framework (Certificate, Advance Certificate, and Fellowship) is based on Kirkpatrick’s model of e-learning and allows the systematic consumption and application of the content.
This course is designed in collaboration with the Royal Liverpool Academy and incorporates a blended learning design.

All eligible candidates after successful completion of this course will gain a Certificate in Diabetes Mellitus and will be eligible for the Advanced Certificate in Diabetes Mellitus. After completion of these two courses, they will be eligible for Fellowship in Diabetes Mellitus.

- Final year medical graduates and interns (MBBS, AYUSH, homeopathy, Unani, Siddha, Naturopathy, Dental).
- Nurses (B.Sc. and M.Sc.), Dieticians: With B.Sc., M.Sc., or PG Diploma in nutrition/dietetics.
Course Validity: 4 months. There will be an extra charge on the extension of the course validity.

- Why this course is called Level 1?
- This is Level 1 of a series of three courses that add up to provide a deep understanding of Diabetes and its management.
- The Level 1 of the course will provide a strong foundation of knowledge on the fundamentals of Diabetes. This level has wider applicability and the knowledge gained will help all eligible healthcare professionals apply this knowledge in the care of diabetes patients in their respective area of work and provide diabetes education to patients.
- For MBBS doctors, this level is the qualifying level to proceed to level 2 of the course.
- Is this course recognized by MCI?
- Medical Council of India does not recognize courses that are offered through online or blended learning platform.
- Can I call myself a Diabetologist/Diabetes specialist after completing this course?
- No. The aim of this course is to be a form of continuing professional development that will increase your clinical knowledge on diabetes and make you better primary care providers. It is not a replacement to formal medical education and specialization.

- How will the assessments be for the Session 1 course?
- All assessments in Session 1 will be online test based. Your knowledge and understanding of different chapters will be tested through online questions at different stages of the course. You will also be given a final online exam, successful completion of which will make you eligible for the certification.
- Once you have successfully cleared the course, you will be awarded Certificate in Diabetes Mellitus Session 1, certified by Royal Liverpool Academy and Medvarsity. (The Royal Liverpool Academy is the academic centre of the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals, NHS Trust)
- Will the final online test be given on a scheduled date?
- The final online test will be unlocked as soon as you complete all the lessons and pass all previous knowledge check tests. You need not wait for any scheduled date for the exam. Your E-Certificate will be generated in the learning management system.
- How many attempts do I have for the final exam?
- One attempt
- What if I am not able to clear the module tests in the first attempt?
- If you are not able to clear the module test in the first attempt, you can always take a second attempt to clear your module tests. You have to pay Re-exam fee, for details Contact Toll free (1800-103-6006) or write to us at [email protected]
- What if I feel that a question is wrongly framed or an answer is wrongly marked in the online exams?

- What certification will I get at the end of the course?
- You will receive a “Certificate in Diabetes Mellitus” after successful completion of this course.
- When will I get my certificate?
- Once you successfully pass your final exam, your E-Certificate will be mailed to your registered E-Mail ID.
- Do you provide any placement assistance?
- We do not provide any placement guarantee as an outcome of the course. On a case to case basis we will introduce your profile to specific recruiting partners but no job guarantee is provided.
