Case Description

This webinar explores the complementary roles of MRI and ultrasound in the diagnosis and evaluation of musculoskeletal pathologies. It highlights the strengths, limitations, and clinical applications of both imaging modalities in assessing tendon injuries, ligament tears, muscle injuries, and joint...

Case Summary

  • Musculoskeletal ultrasound provides significant diagnostic accuracy and versatility across complex orthopedic scenarios, frequently overcoming limitations seen with magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. In postoperative patients with metallic implants, ultrasound reliably mitigates hardware artifacts. In an elderly patient experiencing acute severe pain following reverse shoulder arthroplasty where cross-sectional imaging showed normal implant alignment, dynamic ultrasound identified a complete subscapularis tendon rupture with deltoid herniation, marked deltoid atrophy, and dynamic vertical fluid shear that pinpointed the true pain generator.
